Gregson: Steve will never settle down
Simon Gregson doesn't think Steve McDonald will ever settle down.
The actor isn't sure his 'Coronation Street' alter-ego - who is about to embark on his fifth wedding this month when he attempts to tie the knot with Becky Granger for the second time - will ever be ready to commit to someone for the rest of his life as he likes the thrill and excitement of something new.
He said: "She's certainly keeping him young and on his toes. I think it'll last as long as it keeps him on his toes - he's not really one for settling down. When everything starts to get a bit too comfortable - slippers and pipe - he's like 'no, no, no - this is all wrong!' He doesn't have a clue when he's onto a good thing."
However he thinks Becky and Steve - whose first 'wedding' ended in disaster because the bride was so drunk the minister refused to marry them - are a good match because they bring the best out in each other.
He told digitalspy.co.uk: "I think he's turned Becky's life around. She was all over the place getting into trouble all the time but he's made her grow up. And having a little girl there in Amy, that's made her grow a bit, too.
She's got responsibilities now. She's besotted with him. She's still a total p*sshead, though!"
