Kruger dresses like a 'country girl'

The 'Inglourious Basterds' star Diane Kruger doesn't understand why she has a "sophisticated image", because she considers herself a tomboy at heart.

The 33-year-old actress said: "I was treated like one of the boys in this film, which was very nice. That's more my true self, I think. Maybe it's because I don't do a lot of TV, but I know people see me as this really glamorous person.

"It's a little weird for me because that's not where I come from. I'm a country girl. Definitely not sophisticated."

Kruger claims she was so disinterested in fashion and personal grooming as a child, all the boys at her school near Hamburg, Germany, tormented her relentlessly.

She explained to Britain's The Sunday Times newspaper: "I was not cool at school. I came home crying a lot, but it kind of changed the summer when I was 14. I gained a little bit of weight and cut my hair.

"All of a sudden, boys were starting to pay attention. But they had been so horrible to me that I dated an older boy out of spite."
