Duo bound for US border film

Matthew McConaughey and Eva Mendes could be going 'Southbound'.

Variety reports that the duo are in talks to star in the independently-financed drama, directed by Jonathan Jakubowicz.

Matthew would play a patrol officer on the border between California and Mexico, who accepts a bribe from a Mexican beauty played by Eva.

This gesture puts his family in danger and lands him in the heart of a war between the Mexican crime families and the US immigration police.

Production for the film is due to begin in September.
