‘Land of the Lost’ boring and crude

A film as dumb and time-wasting as any released this year, this is based on a so-so TV series originally from the 1970s in which a group of people – in this case Ferrell, Friel and McBride – are whizzed into a time warp and transported to a world where strange things happen.

‘Land of the Lost’ boring and crude

Cast: Will Ferrell, Anna Friel, Danny McBride, Jorma Taccone

Cert: 12

A film as dumb and time-wasting as any released this year, this is based on a so-so TV series originally from the 1970s in which a group of people – in this case Ferrell, Friel and McBride – are whizzed into a time warp and transported to a world where strange things happen.

Strange things, but certainly not funny things since the writers opt for the crude, rude and witless … and forget to throw in anything resembling action.

Ferrell plays Dr Rick Marshall, whose time-travel ideas are scoffed at by colleagues, but encouraged by a student, Holly (Friel).

He, she, and survivalist guide Will (McBride), use his device to … no great effect.

Charmless and lacking any real entertainment.
