New Electric Picnic tent to offer free phone charging

Electric Picnic revellers are set to enjoy a handy solution to a perennial festival problem this year, with a free phone recharging facility on offer.

The WEEE Electric Picnic tent will be offering the vital service for free whilst tired festival goers recharge their own batteries on comfy seats made from electrical equipment.

WEEE Ireland, the Irish compliance scheme for electrical and battery recycling, will also be promoting examples of ways people can reuse their electrical items, in keeping with the eco-friendly theme of the festival.

The tent will adopt a distinctly retro theme, with the display of Walkmans, rotary phones and radiograms. Old-school gamers will also be able to conjure up childhood memories galore while playing games consoles from their youth, all of which can be recycled for free.

Picnicers can recycle their batteries at the festival, or by finding their collection point afterwards at www.recyclefree.ie.

Weekend tickets for Electric Picnic are still available from Ticketmaster, priced at €240.

The festival will take place in Stradbally Hall, Stradbally, Co Laois from September 4–6.
