Corrie's Becky faces wedding-day arrest drama

'Coronation Street' loudmouth Becky Granger is to be arrested on her wedding day.

The fiery blonde – played by Katherine Kelly – will tie the knot with Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) in an upcoming episode after a registry office date becomes available at short notice.

However, just as their first attempt to wed was a disaster, so are the second nuptials.

Becky’s ex-boyfriend Slug (Marshall Lancaster) is working with crooked cop DC Hooch to frame Becky, and she quickly goes from walking up the aisle to stepping inside a cell.

Simon said: “Slug creates a drama that has explosive consequences. Steve should have been worrying about him all along, but his mind is on his dad, Jim. He’s coming and, of course, he still has feelings for his ex-wife Liz, which Steve is worried could lead to it all kicking off between his dad and Lloyd.”

Instead of spending the night with his new bride, Steve finds himself all alone as Becky is taken into custody in front of the whole of Weatherfield.

And although he wants to believe she is innocent, the seeds of doubt have been sown because of how the pair originally got together.

Steve and Becky started an affair after Becky asked the Rovers Return landlord to provide her with an alibi.

Simon added: “He wants to believe her. The trouble is there will be doubt is his mind, just because she’s Becky. Steve and Becky seem to attract trouble together, and there is a nightmare waiting to happen.”
