Cage to turn on Christmas lights in the UK
Hollywood star Nicolas Cage will turn on the Christmas lights in Bath this year, it emerged today.
The Oscar-winning actor, who owns a home in the city, will flick the switch on November 26, turning on the lights and launching the city’s Christmas Market.
Newspaper The Bath Chronicle today claimed the coup was down to the audacious efforts of its commercial videographer Emma Samways – who stuck a note through the 'Leaving Las Vegas' star’s door, at his home in The Circus in Bath.
Bath city centre manager Andrew Cooper, who works for private and public sector partnership Future Bath Plus, today confirmed the signing.
He said: “We are extremely pleased, it’s a massive coup for Bath. He really likes Bath and this is really good for Bath.”
Cage has owned property in and around the city for the last three years including Midford Castle at Midford and his current home at The Circus.
Cage’s most recent film 'Knowing' topped the box office lists in the UK and the US and he is currently doing promotional work in America ahead of the release of animated movie 'Astro Boy' later this year.
