JLS ditched their girlfriends when they released their debut single.

The British boy band – who topped the UK charts with their track ‘Beat Again’ yesterday – decided to end their relationships when they realised the band could be hugely successful.

Marvin Humes said: “We have given it everything. We sacrificed girlfriends, we sacrificed university, we sacrificed our homes, we sacrificed our jobs. Luckily it has worked for us.

“We’re young guys. Obviously we have fun but it’s very difficult to hold and maintain a relationship. We’re never here. You can imagine the attention we get from girls."

The foursome – also made up of Jonathan ‘JB’ Gill, Aston Merrygold and Oritse Williams - are now revelling in their bachelor status.

Merrygold explained to Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “We’re not Westlife. We’ve only been in this job for under a year. We’re enjoying it.

“We’re not going to sit here and say we never go on dates and we never have sex or whatever. There are a lot of ladies out there.”

Humes agreed: “We’re young boys in the only boy band in the UK. What do you think is going to happen? It’s great.”

The foursome rose to fame when they came second in last year’s series of ‘The X Factor’.
