Bridget Jones back for third movie
A spokesman for Universal Pictures said a third Bridget Jones movie is planned.
That means Renee Zellweger will likely revisit her Oscar-nominated role as the hapless diarist.
Universal spokeswoman Damion Stene confirmed another film is in the works but did not respond when asked whether Zellweger was on board.
The 40-year-old actress gained pounds and a British accent for 'Bridget Jones’s Diary' and the sequel 'Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason', based on the books by Helen Fielding.
Those films arrived in 2000 and 2004, respectively; Colin Firth co-starred as good guy Mark Darcy and Hugh Grant as love rat Daniel Cleaver.
The Bridget franchise was a hit, introducing the terms “singleton” and “smug marrieds”, among other Bridget-isms.
