‘Flash Of Genius’ solid but unremarkable
Marc Abraham directs this true story of one man’s quest for justice against Ford.
During the 1960s, college professor Robert Kearns (Greg Kinnear) invents the world’s first intermittent timed wiper, which revolutionises the automobile industry.
A few weeks into a proposed agreement with Ford, the manufacturer pulls out of the deal eventually reveals a new range of cars fitted with wipers similar to Bob’s design.
Unfortunately, Abraham’s film doesn’t have a rousing, grandstand finale or that feeling of elation by the time the end credits roll.
The pacing is pedestrian and Kinnear’s central performance is solid but unremarkable, which is an apt summation for the picture as a whole.
