Winehouse back in London
Amy Winehouse has returned to London after infuriating St Lucian locals.
The ‘Rehab’ singer burst into tears when she arrived at London’s Gatwick airport yesterday after ending her lengthy stay on the Caribbean island, where she had upset villa staff and left residents resentful of her volatile behaviour.
Staff at the luxurious Cotton Bay resort were furious when Winehouse adopted a stray dog - named Princess - which went on to have a litter of puppies and caused the whole complex to be fumigated for fleas.
A source said: “The management are delighted Winehouse’s left – they only wish she’d taken the dogs with her. Other holidaymakers complained about the fleas and fumigations.”
Staff were also concerned about the troubled 25-year-old singer’s health and allegedly feared they would be sued for millions if Winehouse’s erratic behaviour led to her being injured at the resort.
The source added: “When she went for drunken middle of the night swims they installed extra lifesaving equipment around her pool to avoid being sued if something terrible happened. Amy is not a strong swimmer.”
During her time at the five-star resort, Winehouse reportedly streaked naked through the complex, split up a lesbian couple and gave an erratic performance at the St Lucia Jazz Festival.
The troubled star appeared to be unhappy about returning to her native Britain.
When asked if she was pleased to be back, she snapped: “I don’t give a f**k!”
Winehouse is due in court later this month after she pleaded not guilty in March to charges of assault against dancer Sherene Flash. The case was adjourned and her trial is due to start on July 23.
