'EastEnders' actor Steve McFadden became a father yesterday.

McFadden welcomed his 6lb 3oz daughter into the world yesterday after his partner Rachel Sidwell gave birth via caesarean section at London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

A representative for the 50-year-old star said: “Steve is delighted. Both mother and baby are doing well.”

The baby is yet to be named.

Steve and Rachel - who have three children each with other partners - met while taking their respective offspring to school.

Rachel eventually left her surgeon husband to be with the actor.

Steve recently revealed his excitement at becoming a father again, saying he felt he was being given a “second chance” at life.

He said: “Children are a bond, a physical entity and living proof of your love and commitment to each other. This is a very exciting time for me, I feel like I'm having a fresh start.
