'Sunshine Cleaning' full of charm

A good film doesn’t have to be packed with action, explosions and frights … it just needs a quality script, a solid storyline and people we can sympathise with … and this one hits all the right marks.

In a brilliant and easy-paced story, we meet plucky single mum Rose (the excellent Adams) who needs cash to send her young son to school and her brittle, layabout sister Norah (the equally splendid Blunt) who set up in business as biohazard removal and crime scene cleaners.

The plot allows for several side-bars touching on romance, dysfunction and grief and it is all handled wonderfully by Adams and Blunt who form a captivating chemistry … ordinary folk doing an odd job and making it through life.
