LaBeouf: Acting is 'con game'
Shia LaBeouf – who stars alongside Megan Fox in ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ – has no idea what his career entails and finds it “crazy” when he is complimented on his work.
He said: “I don’t even really know what it is I do for a living – the level of insecurity is very, very high. You’re making a lot of money, getting a lot of accolades and positive criticism for something where you don’t even know what you’re doing. There’s no business-model for this. You can’t go home and say, ‘You did your job today,’ because I don’t know what my job is! That gets crazy, trying to figure that s**t out.”
Shia – who rose to fame starring in several Disney Channel TV shows as a child – recently admitted he is so insecure he feels he is conning the world into believing he is talented.
He said: "Actors are dependent on being validated by other people's opinions. I don't understand what it is I do that people want. I don't know what an actor does. I have no credentials. I don't know what I'm doing. To my mind, talent doesn't really exist. Talent is like a card player's luck. It is motivation, ambition, and luck. I think acting is a con game."
