Boyle to perform at 'Britain's Got Talent' event

Susan Boyle will perform in the second half of tonight's Britain's Got Talent live tour gig in Birmingham, a spokesman for the event said.

The Scottish singer was preparing herself backstage this evening to wow the crowd at the show in Birmingham following a day of doubts over whether or not she would appear.

The arena tour, which will travel across the UK and Ireland until the end of June, will be hosted for the second year running by ITV2’s 'Britain’s Got More Talent' presenter Stephen Mulhern.

At the start of the show, Mulhern announced that Boyle would be performing in the second half.

She was expected to sing two songs, 'I Dreamed A Dream' – from musical 'Les Miserable' – and 'Memory', from the musical 'Cats'.

Sources close to Boyle said earlier that the singer ``wanted'' to perform but that it was still not definite that she would go on stage.

The 48-year-old was admitted to the Priory after coming second in the TV contest.

Reports claimed she shouted backstage “I hate this show” and threw a glass of water at a member of staff who tried to calm her.

In the space of a couple of months, Boyle went from the quiet life of a church volunteer to global fame.

The video of her singing 'I Dreamed A Dream' in her Britain’s Got Talent audition has been watched tens of millions of times on the internet, she has attracted famous supporters including Demi Moore and her face has been plastered across front pages.

The singer left the London clinic after five days.

Since then there have been various reports saying Boyle has not been attending rehearsals.

The tour, starting tonight at the Birmingham National Indoor Arena, has been billed as containing winning act Diversity plus all the nine other finalists - Julian Smith, Shaheen Jafargholi, Aidan Davis, Stavros Flatley, Hollie Steel, Shaun Smith, Flawless, 2 Grand and Boyle.

Diversity, a 10-piece street dance troupe from Essex, consisting of three groups of brothers and their friends aged from 12 to 25 years old, stormed the final last month with their routine of slick street dance moves.
