Walters finishes drama based on life of Mo Mowlam
Actress Julie Walters has finished playing former Northern Ireland Secretary Mo Mowlam in the drama 'Mo'.
Oscar-nominated Walters stars alongside David Haig, who will play Ms Mowlam’s husband Jon Norton.
The drama will show Ms Mowlam’s rise to prominence in the UK's New Labour and her part in peace talks over the North, as well as her bravery.
Ms Mowlam died in 2005 a month short of her 56th birthday and had been battling a brain tumour.
She hit her head in a fall and never regained consciousness.
'Mo' was commissioned by Channel 4’s head of drama, Liza Marshall, who said: “Mo Mowlam is one of the most inspiring figures of our recent political past and I can’t think of an actress who could more powerfully capture her energy, wit and ultimately the tragedy of her situation than Julie Walters.”
The one-off film will air on Channel 4 in 2010.
