Jagger: I did not try to but ice-cream van
Rock star Mick Jagger today played down reports that he was about to become "Mr Whippy" by buying an ice cream van.
The Rolling Stones frontman was reported to have offered £100,000 (€114,369) to Guiseppe Della Camera for his restored ice cream van.
Mr Camera, 34, from Streatham, south London, said Jagger had approached him and made the offer for the vintage van.
However the cafe owner said that he had to decline as he had promised to one day drive his daughter Alessia to her wedding in the 1954 Morris J wagon.
He told the Daily Mirror: "I was on Wandsworth Common when he came up and told me he'd really fallen in love with my van and offered me £100,000 (€114,369).
"I admit I was tempted. But I told him I couldn't possibly sell it as I've told Alessia it will be her wedding car one day."
Jagger today laughed off the claims, however.
He said: "I know it's tough out there and the economy is in meltdown but I can assure everyone that I am not about to turn into Mr Whippy - I think someone has a vivid imagination."
