‘Drag Me To Hell’ a very rewarding chiller

Raimi returns to the horror genre with this superior chiller that’s proved a big hit Stateside, thanks to excellent performances from Lohman and, especially, Raver.

Lohman plays loan arranger Christine who is faced with a problem: does she follow her instincts and grant the nice old lady (the scene-stealing Raver) the money she requires, or does she evict her from her home to impress her bosses?

She opts for the latter and is placed under a curse by the nice old lady … with all the horrible results we expect from Raimi at his most diabolical.

It’s scary, well-paced and richly rewarding … and happily we see a banker, of a kind, getting it in the neck.
