Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are preparing for the arrival of their newborn twins - by renovating their New York home and building the tots a new nursery.

The couple turned to a surrogate mother after actress Parker failed to conceive a sibling for six-year-old son James Wilkie.

They are due to welcome twin baby girls into their home later this year, and have begun the task of preparing their pad for a bigger family.

Removal men arrived at the pair's plush West Village, New York home and packed up trucks with the couple's belongings before shipping them to a storage unit nearby.

A neighbour said: "I thought they might be moving house, but I've been told they're putting their belongings into storage so the house can be renovated."
