Huge bet on Boyle has bookmaker worried
A bookmaker has taken a £7,000 (€8,000) bet on Susan Boyle to win 'Britain's Got Talent', its biggest reality TV bet of the year.
William Hill said the bet was placed by a woman from Torquay, Devon, who believes that Boyle is "unbeatable".
She placed the bet on the favourite at odds of 4/7 and would win £4,000 (€4,615), giving her a total return of £11,000 (€12,693).
The bookies are predicting a million-pound-plus turnover in the next few days, boosted by the "Boyle factor".
William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said: "The vast majority of our customers are convinced that Susan is unbeatable and we are taking some very big bets - but Susan Boyle is fast losing her 'underdog' tag and it is possible that all the hype will prove to be her downfall."
The bookmaker has placed Boyle as the 4/7 favourite to win and is offering 2/1 odds for her to perform in the West End in 2009.
