'Everlasting Moments' like a good stage play

A beautifully lyrical film with a gritty background from Sweden that revolves around a family in l900’s Malmo, held together by the wife – quite wonderfully brought to life by Heiskanen – and torn apart by her drunken husband.

When Maria, the wife, rediscovers a camera she once won and is persuaded to become a photographer by the owner of a local shop (Persbrandt) her husband feels threatened by this sudden change in her life and by her growing friendship with her new-found mentor.

A slow-paced and closed-in film – more akin to a stage play – that nevertheless brings a glow to the screen.
