The mother of Mel Gibson's girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva has defended her daughter against allegations she broke up the actor's marriage of 28 years.

Gibson and 39-year-old Grigorieva went public with their romance last month, just weeks after the actor's wife Robyn filed for divorce.
