Eminem announces Detroit free show

Eminem is to play a free show with DJ Jazzy Jeff in his native Detroit, Michigan on tonight.

The rapper announced the Motor City Casino show on his MySpace.com page on Sunday night - shortly after his animated appearance on TV comedy Family Guy - prompting fans to start queuing up outside independent record store Record Time in Detroit suburb Roseville for tickets.

The free passes were handed out at 5pm local time yesterday.

The show comes four days after Eminem flew 200 unemployed autoworkers from his home city to Los Angeles, so they could cheer him on during an appearance on TV show 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' on Friday.

The rap star is expected to film segments of his free show for re-appearances on the Kimmel show on Tuesday and Friday.

Eminem's new album 'Relapse' is released today.
