Pop legend Wilson added to Electric Picnic line-up
Brian Wilson, Royksopp and The Wailers are among the artists that have today been confirmed to play Irish boutique music festival Electric Picnic this year.
Irish artists such as Fionn Regan and Mundy, as well as LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy and Pat Mahoney will also perform at the event at Stradbally, Co Laois.
Other artists announced today include A Flock of Seagulls, Bell Orchestre, Marina and the Diamonds, Jeffrey Lewis, The Field and Richmond Fontaine.
The event, which also encompasses visual art, cinema, comedy and circus performers, will welcome 35,000 revellers from Friday September 4 to Sunday September 6 inclusive.
Former Beach Boys lead singer Wilson will be performing some of the best-known anthems in the history of pop, such as ‘Wouldn't it Be Nice’, ‘Surfing USA’, ‘California Girls’, ‘I Get Around’ and ‘Good Vibrations’.
Norwegian electro-pop duo Royksopp will be playing their first Irish show in four years, performing tracks from their new studio album ‘Junior’.
Reggae legend Bob Marley’s backing band The Wailers have recorded such groundbreaking songs as ‘One Love’, ‘Exodus’ and ‘No Woman, No Cry’, and are sure to please Irish fans.
Tickets are still available for the event from www.ticketmaster.ie, with weekend tickets costing €240. Family camping tickets are priced at €480.
