Depeche Mode have been forced to cancel further concerts due to frontman Dave Gahan’s severe bout of gastroenteritis, it was announced today.

The synth rock act were due to perform in the Greek capital Athens on Tuesday night as part of their world tour, when the 47-year-old singer fell ill.

A statement released today said that more concerts had been cancelled due to “further complications” and the singer was undergoing more tests.

The cancelled concerts are in Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia and Croatia on May 16, 18, 20 and 21 respectively.

Ticket holders for the above shows are advised to hold on for an announcement about rescheduled dates or final cancellation.
