French to star in new comedy series
Dawn French is to star in a new comedy series about the lives of a middle-aged couple when they return home at the end of the working day.
The six-part series, called 'Roger And Val Have Just Got In', will air on BBC2 later this year.
'Vicar Of Dibley' star French was honoured with a Bafta Fellowship last month, alongside her comedy partner Jennifer Saunders.
Casting for the male lead in the new show is going on.
Mark Freeland, head of comedy at the BBC, said: “Roger And Val leapt off the page at me the very first time I saw it.
“There will be nothing like it when it arrives on BBC2.
“It’s original, intriguing, sweet, funny and full of pathos. And it’s only got two people in it.”
The series will be produced by Pete Thornton, whose credits include 'Jam And Jerusalem' and 'The Smoking Room' and executive produced by Hugo Blick, who worked on 'Marion And Geoff' and 'Sensitive Skin'.
