Clooney: 'Gerber incident never happened'

George Clooney isn't waiting for a court date to rage about sexual harassment allegations levelled at pal Rande Gerber - he insists the 2008 incident at the centre of the legal spat "never happened".

Clooney has been named as a witness by lawyers representing Cindy Crawford's husband, and he's already speaking out about the claims made by two waitresses, who allege they were fired from their jobs at a San Diego, California restaurant owned by Gerber, for ignoring his sexual advances.

One went so far as to claim Gerber tried to kiss her and then reached up her skirt.

In a new statement an enraged Clooney said: "I was with Rande the entire night - as were a lot of people. They will all say the same thing that I'm saying. This event never happened. Period."

The lawsuit against Gerber was filed in March in San Diego County Superior Court.

A spokesman for Gerber insists the restaurateur and Clooney will take lie detector tests to prove the allegations against the former are false.
