Nothing new in fluffy 'Ghosts of Girlfriends Past'

Director: Mark Waters

Cast: Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner, Michael Douglas

McConaughey faces a dilemma concerning the films he makes and the direction his career takes: too many fluffy films and a career if not exactly going downhill then certainly stalled.

He’s a better actor than some of his recent films would suggest and this one isn’t really going to elevate him above the mire … and fluff.

It’s another variation of the Scrooge story in which he is guided through a parade of all his former girlfriends while attending his brother’s wedding.

It’s a lightweight rom-com about second chances that brings us nothing new or interesting. A film that leaves no trace of itself after it ends hardly rates your attention.
