'Top Gun' actress comes out
US actress Kelly McGillis has ended speculation about her sexuality by coming out as a lesbian.
McGillis, noted for her performances in 'Top Gun', 'Witness' and 'The Accused', told website shewire that she was single and definitely looking for a woman.
It puts to rest long-standing rumours about her personal life.
McGillis, 51, has wed twice and has two daughters from her second marriage to Fred Tillman.
She came to fame starring opposite Harrison Ford in 'Witness', but it is as the love interest of Tom Cruise in 1986's 'Top Gun' that she is perhaps better known.
Speaking to shewire's Girl Rock video blog, McGillis said she was now looking for a woman in her life.
She added: "I'm done with the man thing. I'm done with that and need to move on in life."
In 2007, the actress moved back into television, joining the cast of 'The L Word', an American drama based around the lives of a group of lesbian and bisexual friends in Los Angeles.
