Day-Lewis to be made Freeman of Wicklow

Oscar-winning movie star Daniel Day-Lewis is to become the first Freeman of Co Wicklow, it was revealed today.

The renowned actor will be awarded the Freedom accolade at a special ceremony at Wicklow Co Council on Monday.

He lives in the county with his wife, Rebecca Miller and family.

Two-time Oscar winner Day-Lewis clinched the coveted awards for his films 'There Will Be Blood' and 'My Left Foot'.

He is also famed for his performances in a raft of other productions, including 'Gangs of New York' and 'In the Name of the Father'.
