McCartney makes moving tribute to late wife

Paul McCartney made a moving tribute to his late wife Linda while appearing at a festival in the Californian desert.

The former Beatle dedicated two songs to Linda when he appeared before a 55,000-strong crowd at the Coachella music festival yesterday.

Macca dedicated hits 'The Long and Winding Road' and 'My Love to Linda', who died from breast cancer in 1998.

McCartney played for almost three hours including several encores and a huge sing along version of fans favourite Hey Jude.

He was married to Linda for almost 30 years. Last year he divorced Heather Mills after the couple married in 2002.

Other classics that McCartney wowed the crowd with included 'Drive My Car', 'Eleanor Rigby', 'Back In The USSR' and 'Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band'.

US indie rockers – The Killers – headline the three day festival tonight before The Cure, darlings of the 1980s Brit goth scene take centre stage tomorrow.

The festival which is attaining cult status, was launched in the mid 1990s and has gone on to become a well respected music and arts event.
