Sheridan: 'Housewives' creator didn't like me

Nicollette Sheridan said her Desperate Housewives character was marked for death by something more dangerous than her deranged husband – the show’s creator.

Sheridan told TV Guide magazine that her character Edie Britt must represent somebody that Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry did not like and said he had trouble “distinguishing between fact and fiction”.

When last seen, Edie had crashed her car while trying to flee her husband. In the next episode, which airs this weekend in the US, Edie is mourned by her Wisteria Lane neighbours.

Cherry told TV Guide that the show had been under pressure to cut costs, with the magazine estimating that Sheridan’s departure would save up to £135,000 (€151,000) an episode.

Cherry also said Edie’s story and sexual escapades had run their course.
