Broken leg keeps Duffy off the airwaves

Popular broadcaster Joe Duffy was undergoing surgery today after breaking his leg, RTÉ said.

The presenter of Radio One’s 'Liveline' programme was admitted to St James’ Hospital in Dublin yesterday.

An RTÉ spokeswoman said he was involved in a “minor incident”.

His right leg was found to have two broken bones.

“He is having surgery today and is expected out of hospital early next week,” said a spokeswoman.

“He is in fine spirits and looking forward to returning to the airwaves as soon as possible.”

The broadcaster is not expected on air next week and Damian O’Reilly will stand in for him.
