Simpson abandons country career

Jessica Simpson's love affair with country music appears to be over - she has parted company with her Nashville, Tennessee-based record label.

Her representative has confirmed Simpson is no longer on Sony Nashville's roster, but insists the singer has not been dropped by label bosses.
