Gareth Gates is a dad

Gareth Gates and his wife Suzanne are celebrating the birth of their first child.

Suzanne delivered a baby girl, called Missy, early yesterday.

In a statement, thrilled dad Gates, 24, said: "We are so excited. Missy is beautiful and we can't wait to spend time together as a family."

The singer shot to fame in the first ever series of 'Pop Idol'.

He released three studio albums, with limited success, before making the switch to musical theatre - and is currently starring in the West End version of 'Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'.
