Fawcett goes into hospital
Seventies star Farrah Fawcett, who has struggled with cancer since 2006, has checked into a Los Angeles hospital, a friend said today.
Craig Nevius said the 62-year-old âCharlieâs Angelsâ star was suffering from a blood clot that was probably a side effect of treatment she recently had in Germany.
âTonight, Farrah has hope, and she hopes that others will continue to hold onto theirs,â he told People magazine.
Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer in 2006. Doctors declared the cancer in remission in February 2007, but it returned a few months later.
Producer Nevius said he was making the statement in response to reports that Fawcett had been hospitalised since Thursday.
One of Fawcettâs doctors, Lawrence Piro, told People that Fawcett had abdominal bleeding while undergoing aggressive alternative cancer treatments in Germany.
He said that recent pictures of Fawcett in a wheelchair were misleading.
âSheâs able to walk. And she remains in good spirits with her usual sense of humour,â he said.
