Penn and Carrey may star in 'Three Stooges'

Sean Penn and Jim Carrey are in negotiations to play two of the 'Three Stooges' in a new Farelly Brothers film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sean is set to play Larry, while Jim is in line for the part of Curly in the film.

Benicio Del Toro is said to be in consideration for the role of the third brother, Moe.

The film will not be a biopic of the famous American comedy act, but a fictional treatment which will update the legendary comedy act’s infamous slapstick for the modern generation.

The studio is looking to start production this autumn for a 2010 release slot.
