Spandau Ballet to launch comeback today
Spandau Ballet, standard bearers of the New Romantic movement, will become the latest band to announce a comeback today.
The group were making a “very special announcement” on HMS Belfast in London, and it was expected to include details of a world tour.
Lead singer Tony Hadley has promised a “new take” on the Spandau Ballet idea.
The five-piece scored a string of top 10 UK hits during the 80s including 'Gold and True', but suffered an acrimonious split that ended in the British High Court.
After the break-up in 1989, two members – brothers Martin and Gary Kemp – went into acting, starring as gangsters Ronnie and Reggie Kray in the 1990 film 'The Krays'.
Martin Kemp also starred as villain Steve Owen in 'EastEnders' in the late 1990s.
Spandau Ballet are the latest in a series of groups to reunite – Take That and the Police have both staged successful comeback tours in recent years.
Michael Jackson also recently announced a marathon series of concerts at London’s O2 arena, which sold out within hours.
