'Bronson' worthless in every way

Director: Nicolas Winding Refn

Cast: Tom Hardy, Matt King, Amanda Burton

Cert: 18

'Bronson' is low-level, British Lottery-funded film – an unpleasant work about an unpleasant piece of work.

Charles Bronson is Britain’s most famous – infamous – prisoner whose record extends to 35 years behind bars, 30 of them in solitary.

Hardy does make a gallant attempt at portraying Bronson but is given no bones on which to hang the meat - director Refn appears to have no contribution to make regarding what makes the thuggish monster tick.

Bronson once claimed he wanted to be famous and one supposes having films made of his life will do the trick, but it has been a worthless life brought to us in a worthless manner.
