Williams eyes June release date for album

Vanessa Williams is set to release her new album in the US this June.

USA Today reports that the 'Ugly Betty' actress, who plays Wilhelmina Slater on the show, will release 'The Real Thing' on June 2.

Her first album in four years will feature jazz, samba, salsa, pop and R&B influences.

“I had been wanting to do a Latin-flavoured album since I played a ballroom dancer in the (salsa) movie Dance With Me,” said Williams..

However, she will not be able to promote her new record with an extensive tour, due to filming commitments with 'Ugly Betty'.
