Former Monkee fights cancer
Former Monkee Peter Tork revealed today he has a rare form of head and neck cancer, but the prognosis is good.
The 67-year-old had surgery yesterday in New York. A spokeswoman said he was doing well and will begin radiation treatment after a short recovery period.
He announced on his website that he has been diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma on the lower region of his tongue.
He said it is an uncommon but slow-growing type of cancer, and it hasn’t spread beyond the initial site.
From 1966 to 1968, the Monkees had a popular TV show and a No. 1 hit with “I’m A Believer”.
