Heart operation for Williams

Actor Robin Williams has cancelled his one-man comedy show after being told he must have heart surgery.

The 57-year-old actor needs an aortic valve replacement, his publicist Mara Buxbaum said last night.

Williams’ representatives would not give any more information on his condition.

“I’m so touched by everyone’s support and well wishes,” Williams said in a statement.

“This tour has been amazing fun and I can’t wait to get back out on the road after a little tune-up.”

The Oscar-winning star of 'Good Will Hunting', 'Dead Poets’ Society' and 'Mrs Doubtfire' was already in Florida with his show, 'Weapons Of Self-Destruction', when he was forced to cancel four appearances in the state after experiencing shortness of breath.

Williams had been on the sell-out, 80-city tour, which is expected to resume in the autumn, since September.
