Dublin musician Jape has won this year’s Choice Music Prize for his third album, Ritual.

The 32-year-old Crumlin man, whose real name is Richie Egan, was crowned winner at a live awards show in Vicar St last night.

He wins a cheque for €10,000 and a specially-commissioned award.

Egan has also been nominated as Best Irish Male in the upcoming Meteor Music Awards, which take place on March 17.
