Jade awaits cancer op results
Cancer-battling Jade Goody was recovering in London’s Royal Marsden Hospital today, awaiting the results of emergency surgery.
The reality TV star’s publicist Max Clifford said the results of the operation to relieve pain in her bowel could determine whether she lived beyond the end of the month.
“The prognosis depends on how she responds to surgery and how beneficial it is. The next 24 hours will be critical,” he told the Daily Mirror newspaper.
“If her bowel is cleared and she’s able to eat properly and regain some strength, she could live much longer than that.”
Goody, 27, was visited in hospital by husband Jack Tweed yesterday – hours after he was convicted of assaulting a taxi driver.
Magistrates adjourned sentencing until March 26 so reports could be prepared on Tweed’s background.
The 21-year-old’s lawyer told Epping Magistrates Court that Goody has been given less than four weeks to live.
She was diagnosed with terminal cervical cancer in August last year, and the disease has since spread to her liver and bowel.
Goody was taken to the Royal Marsden on Sunday night after she complained of unrelenting pain while at St Clare Hospice in Hastingwood, near Harlow, Essex.
She was then transferred to nearby Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for the bowel operation before being taken back to the Royal Marsden.
