Tragic Goody recovering after surgery

Jade Goody was recovering in hospital today following surgery to relieve pain in her bowel.

The 27-year-old reality TV star was operated on last night after being plagued with crippling stomach pains.

Goody, who has terminal cancer, had surgery at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London following tests yesterday.

Her spokesman, Max Clifford, said the operation was vital as it could help improve her quality of life.

Speaking last night, he said: “Hopefully the operation will relieve the pain and pressure she has been experiencing in her bowel.

“This operation is important because if successful it could alleviate the worst of the pain she’s been experiencing.

“She will be able to start eating again and it will give her more quality of life and more quality of time.”

Goody’s husband, Jack Tweed, 21, will appear before magistrates in Epping, Essex, again today, charged with assaulting a taxi driver. The trial started yesterday and he denies the charge.

Mr Clifford said Goody desperately wanted to return home to spend her remaining time with Tweed and her two sons, Bobby, five, and Freddie, four.

He added: “She’s very sedated at the moment, she just hopes the operation goes well so she can get home and enjoy some quality time with her family.”

Goody was taken to the Royal Marsden Hospital on Sunday night after she complained of unrelenting pain while at St Clare Hospice in Hastingwood, near Harlow, Essex.

Goody was taken to the hospice on Friday night and had been due to return to her home in nearby Upshire yesterday.

Doctors have told Goody she has weeks to live after her cervical cancer spread to her liver, groin and bowel.

It emerged today that she was planning a new career helping cancer victims when she was diagnosed.

The star was training to help women who had lost a breast when she got her own news last August, her teacher has told Woman’s Own.

And long before she lost her own hair, she was tattooing eyebrows and lashes on to women who had been treated with chemotherapy.

Cathy Brown, from the Nouveau Contour training academy in Milton Keynes, told the magazine: “It’s so ironic this had happened to Jade when she showed such compassion and empathy, and really wanted to help people with cancer.

“She got quite upset about it, but she felt very strongly about helping these women.

“We are all so shocked.”

Mr Clifford said Goody would stay at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital following the operation and if all went well, may be transferred back to the Royal Marsden at some point today.

Goody and her sons are due to be christened next Saturday at a church close to her home.

She also plans to record a television interview with Piers Morgan for ITV early this week.

It also emerged that Goody plans to meet a white witch and has also been praying and bathing in “holy water”.

In her column in New! magazine, Goody, who has been given just weeks to live by doctors treating her cancer, said she was also reading the Bible.

She continued: “I have a bowl of holy water that I wash and pray with and I’m even having a meeting with a white witch...

“I’ve no idea what she’s going to do to me so I’ll have to let you know how I get on!”

Goody said she was in touch with her life coach and might also see a healer.

She added: “It all helps to keep me positive.”

On spending time as a family, she said: “We’re trying to plan things as a family so the boys have good memories of us all together.

“We’re planning a big sleepover with me and the boys, Jeff (Goody’s ex Jeff Brazier), Jack (her husband Jack Tweed) and all our mates.”
