Director: Darnell Martin
Cast: Beyonce Knowles, Adrien Brody, Gabrielle Union, Jeffrey Wright
Supposed to be the story of the Chicago record company, Chess Records, of the l950s that had on its books such classic Blues singers as Muddy Watters (Wright), Chuck Berry and Etta James (Knowles).
It isn’t a documentary so don’t expect it to be an accurate account of the life and times of the company, and certainly don’t expect Knowles to match the class and talent of her character.
You’ll be sadly disappointed.
