Gabriel withdraws from performing at Oscars
Rocker Peter Gabriel has pulled out of performing at the Oscars - because awards show bosses wouldn't let him perform the complete version of his nominated song from the 'WALL-E' soundtrack.
Gabriel thought he'd get the chance to sing 'Down To Earth', the song he composed with Thomas Newman, and when he realised he would only have time to perform an edited version, he withdrew from the Academy Awards.
His spot will be taken by the Soweto Gospel Choir, according to Daily Variety.
In a video on his website, Gabriel said:, "It's a bit unfortunate. The songwriters are a very small part of the filmmaking process but we still work bloody hard.
He admitted he still intends to attend the Oscars on February 22.
