You have to pity Steve Martin, the man who once made some really great films but now reduced to the level of re-making clapped-out comedies that were already running out of steam.

Here, in a witless outing, Martin’s bungling character is reduced in rank while thinking he’s on some top secret mission. But will a series of thiefts restore him in the eyes of his manic boss, Drefus (Cleese)?

And, anyway, who cares any more?
