Hot Chocolate singer to hang up microphone

Hot Chocolate frontman Erroll Brown is hanging up his mic for good - because he has finally grown too old to rock and roll.

The 'You Sexy Thing' singer will embark on a farewell tour of the UK next month and will then turn his back on music after 40 years in the industry.

He is adamant it is the right time for him to retire, because he feels "silly" performing pop songs at the age of 60.

"It's just time really to say goodbye, to be honest," he said. "And to thank everybody for everything they've done and the support I've been given, and sail off into the sunset.

"When you've done your thing, a lot of times you've had your greatest creative years and then to be going out and trying to come back with something - at my age, now it's a bit silly. I'm sorry to say that. I just think that my best work is done and that's it.

"Some people keep on and on and on but I don't have that feeling. I don't get up and feel I've got to write anything any more, so I'm happy. I'm not kind of moaning - I've done what I was very happy with, and that's it."
