'Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist' engrossing and cheerful

Director: Peter Sollett

Cast: Michael Cera, Rafi Gavron, Aaron Yoo, Kat Dennings

Just when you thought you couldn’t stand another teenage high school flick, along comes this totally charming tale … romance races back.

Nick – played to dorky perfection by Cera – sets out with his pals to watch his fave band, Fluffy Bunny, perform in Manhattan … if he can figure out exactly where it is they’re playing.

Along the way he meets Dorah (Dennings), who has long fancied him without ever meeting him, and the romance, comedy and drama unfolds over the course of one night in a story filled with quirky moments and an abundance of richly observed characters and odd-balls.

It’s a film with an almost old-fashioned feel to it but it never ceases to be clever, engrossing and fuzzily cheerful.

A perfect date movie.
